:
Architecture and ecologies in the context of collapse
2018
In specifying off-the-shelf materials and products, architecture is a practice of arresting living materials and specimens in stasis where they are isolated from the environments and symbiotic relationships that keep them alive. Fieldwork samples and draft excerpts from my travelling research are trapped in a naturally pigmented solution cast in a window frame discarded at demolition. Once upon a time this was a desirable catalogue product, and its contents occupied different territories. It exaggerates the complicit role architecture plays in the decline of planetary ecological communities, directly or indirectly.
