Re-designing the Australian Dream
:
Urban Nature; From House to City
1990
Architects and city makers constantly assemble fragments as we evolve our practice over time, often collaborating with others; fragments may include research and practice; with teaching they inform and improve each other. My journey began in 1990 with a Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship. Visiting exemplary Olmstead projects; Forest Hills Gardens and Riverside inspired an interest in Urban Nature, evolving from house to housing, neighbourhoods, urban renewal, precincts and lately cities. As Dovey suggests, each of these scales are an assemblage rather than the Modernist notion of a fixed end state.
