The Rise of Energy Efficient Building
2018
Almost 40% of our carbon emissions can be attributed to buildings. My quest was to research ways architects can lower this number through their everyday work. Each model represents the changing attitudes towards architecture - the importance of embracing building physics, fabrication, resource circularity & energy in our design processes to solve 21st century challenges. My research uncovered that Passivhaus is a movement, not just an energy & resilience standard. It can be seen as the next evolution of the Bauhaus movement as it encompasses the same principles - the importance of craftsmanship, efficiency, connection to nature & community.
